Stops underwater noise

Boblegardin

The bubble curtain creates a “wall” of air underwater. This dampens noise from blasting and pile driving, but can also stop the silt dispersion.

Bubble curtains can also keep it ice-free by the air bubbles lifting warmer/saltier water to the surface.

Bubble curtains reduce underwater noise. This area of application is the most common and best documented. The decisive factor for good function is the amount of air that, when subjected to noise (blasting, pile driving, etc.), is in the water column between the noise source and the object/area to be protected. WAENS bubble curtains have been tested by renowned research institutions in real conditions, the reports are linked below.

Bubble curtains can reduce silt propagation from construction work or fillings in the coastal zone and sea. The bubble curtain creates an upward water flow with a plume on the surface. This water flow stops more volatile currents and sends them back towards the source of pollution. The advantage of a bubble curtain compared to a silt curtain is that it can be sailed over and is not damaged by currents and bad weather.
